Eva was Rafi Friedl Benshalom’s sister. She and her husband were friends of the movement and gave assistance to members who arrived in Arad (Romania) from Hungary. In 1944 Eva, her husband, Imre, and their son Freddie, made illegal aliya on the ‘Mafkura’ ship that sank in the Black Sea after hitting a floating mine. She and her husband and son drowned with all the other passengers.
